Impressive playing matched by energetic cheering resulted in the Okemos boys water polo team earning a slot at the State Championship tournament.  The qualifying game on Friday night was intense, and although Okemos led in scoring for the first 3 quarters, a newly energized AA Huron team fought back to score 4 goals in the last quarter and almost evened the score.  Okemos held on and won by 1 goal.  The final tally was 8 goals for Okemos and 7 goals for AA Huron

Offensive play was very strong, led by Woolcock and Billingslea with 2 goals each, and Himebaugh, Fata, Schnepf and VanAlstine each scored 1 goal apiece.  Impressively, every one of the 6 starters scored at least one goal, with goal assists from Himebaugh (3 assists), Billingslea (2) and Fata (1).

The Okemos defensive effort was led by VanAlstine with 8 steals, with strong support from Schnepf (5 steals), Himebaugh (3 steals) and Woolcock (3 steals).  Goalie Sid Murthy was intuitive and fast in the goal, and contributed 9 saves and 1 steal.
